2016 Designz® Cup National Winner
Theme: Tribute to a Painter
National Winner – Kathleen Horton
Congratulations to Kathleen Horton from Marjorie Milner College in North Balwyn, Victoria for obtaining the highest Designz® Cup score in 2016.
Kathleen based her design on a painting entitled Circles in a Circle and painted by Kandinsky in 1923. She spent hours wrapping wool in vibrant shades around cardboard discs to mimic his work.
The discs were hung in front of the compulsory OASIS® FOAM FRAMES® Ring supplied to all entrants and Kathleen covered hers with moss. Gerberas, Calla Lilies, Umbrella Fern, green Trick and Anthuriums were positioned to recreate the lines in Kandinsky’s painting.
Smithers-Oasis Australia thanks all entrants for contributing their time and resources to our event. Their tutors are also thanked for their support along with Alan Randall-Smith who travelled a great deal for the judging.
